This week for Throwback Thursday we bring you Eric B & Rakim’s famous song, Don’t Sweat the Technique. Eric B & Rakim were a hip hop duo out of Long Island, NY composed of DJ Eric Barrier and MC Rakim Allah. The group came out during hip hop’s golden age of the 80s and 90s.
They are considered to be one of the most influential groups because of their innovative styles. Rakim was the genious behind the mic with his witty and sophisticated metaphors and smooth delivery. Eric B was the mastermind behind the beats, meshing James Brown samples with his unique scratching skills. Don’t Sweat the Technique goes down in hip hop history as one of the best songs.
